    CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE APPLYING
    UtahAngels partners have a collective 200 years of angel investing experience.  Our partners are accomplished entrepreneurs, college professors,  and one even has a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Venture Finance.  Our collective experience has resulted in the identification of four (4) "sweet spots" where we like to invest.  Entrepreneurs seeking funding from UtahAngels should consider the following four "sweet spots" before applying.

    Sweet Spot #1 - Startup (get our foot in the door, provide mentoring)
    1. Startup with a great idea needing $15k ideally ($25k maximum) to hunt for business model
    2. No salaries to founders
    3. Must have mentoring plan with mentors / advisors for advisory board
    4. Must have Steve Blank business model diagram (preferably with Osterwalder Business Model canvas)
    5. Must have strong, balance management team as founders
    6. Simple common stock investment of about 6% for $15k
    7. Preference given to those who have already pivoted due to customer discovery process
    8. Entity formed as C or LLC

    Sweet Spot #2 - Ready to Scale (well-priced deal with a good idea and team, proven model)

    1. Proven (nailed ready to scale) business model through Customer Discovery, Customer Validation, and record of Pivots
    2. Highly developed sales ecosystem model with sales plan
    3. Identified sales leader
    4. Some sustenance salary for founders
    5. Valuation range: $600k - $1.4 million
    6. Seeking: $150-400k in equity (debt is possible if it's a fit)
    7. All other aspects of Sweet Spot #1

    Sweet Spot #3 - Growth (good traction, needs fuel to expand)

    1. TTM Revenue: $250,000+
    2. Last three months revenue x 4 = $500,000+
    3. Valuation: up to $2 million
    4. Seeking: up to $500,000 in equity (debt possible)
    5. All other aspects of Sweet Spot #2

    Sweet Spot #4 – Challenged

    1. TTM Revenue: $500,000+
    2. Valuation: down-round, offered at significant discount from previous round
    3. Seeking: buyers for existing shareholder stock or new issuance
    4. Product and sales channels must have demonstrable promise
    5. Below-market salary for founders
